GAMBAS AL AJILLO (SHRIMP W/ GARLIC)

Ever so often when we crave some Spanish food, mostly tapas, we find our way going to Sala One Nine or Boquiera in the Flatiron District, NYC. The Gambas Al Ajillo is absolutely divine at Sala One Nine and of course, our curious hats wanted to know how to make it at home and so we did.

Ingredients:
 1 lb.         Shrimp
6-8          Garlic Cloves (sliced)
1 tsp.       Paprika
1/2 tsp.    Spanish Chili Powder (optional)
1/2 tsp.    Red Pepper Flakes
1/4 cup    Lemon Juice
1/4 cup    Olive Oil
Salt, to taste

Directions:

1.  In a wide, yet shallow, stainless-steel sauté pan, warm up the olive oil over medium-high heat.

2. Add and slow cook the garlic until you can smell the garlic.

3. Add the shrimp and sauté for about 5 to 6 minutes until they have curled up and turned pink on both sides.
4. Add the lemon juice, paprika, pepper flakes, and salt and pepper to taste. Of course, adjust the seasonings to your liking.

3. Transfer to a warm serving dish, garnish with some finely chopped parsley and serve with a hot piece of toasted bread to soak up all the flavor of not just the shrimp but the oil too!
